JavaScriptsThese are JavaScripts that I wrote for various purposes. The scripts may be used, provided that any copyright or header information that I have included remains in tact. If you use and appreciate the code, send me a message, or buy me something off of my Amazon Wishlist. Thanks! These pages were all written by George Jaros and are part of George's Universe, but will open in new browser windows. >> Engraving Script: - This script allows you to enter separate messages for each item ordered. I created this script for a site where a separate engraving message had to be entered for each item ordered. The script will display the engravings for each item in a locked textarea field, one line per engraving. The engravings will also be stored in a hidden field as a » (» - ASCII Character 187) delimited list. >> Labels Script: - This script is used to enter custom label information with a product. I used it on a site where labels could be ordered with custom information (like address labels). The script returns the label details in a hidden field. The label fields are Fixed Width fields which must be entered in both the script and the input fields. >> Complex Form Features: - This code allows for some complex form displays. First, it allows for a parent drop down to control the options displayed in a second dependent drop down. The options in the dependent drop down will change depending on the selected option in the parent form. Unlike most of the other JavaScripts out there, this parent/dependent relationship is defined in the function arguments rather than hard coded. Therefore the same script can be used in multiple parent/dependent relationships in a form. The only limit is to how many menu arrays you build. Second, it allows for fields to be hidden or shown when an event occurs. Third, it allows for fields to be shown if/when Other is selected from a drop down menu. Fourth, it allows for drop down menus to be reset to the first element or cleared completely when an event occurs. >> Cascading Drop Downs: - This is the code to have multiple drop down menus cascade options. Everything I found out there was for only two menus, so here's the code for as many menus as you want. Keep in mind though, the more menus you have the larger the options arrays are going to be. This page has six menus, but some of them link back to others. >> Tic-Tac-Toe: - This code allows for a Tic-Tac-Toe game that can be played against either a real person or a computer opponent. >> Random Numbers, Time, Date: - This page contains scripts to generate random four digit numbers in the format 0-9999, 0000 - 9999 and 1000 - 9999. Also included are a millisecond clock with time capture and a real-time date display. >> Arrow Animation: - This code uses eight images to make a graphic move around the screen in random directions. >> Search String: - This script will search a string for a substring and return the number of times the substring was found. >> Planets - Pop-up: - This page displays information about the selected planet in a pop-up menu. >> Planets - Multidimensional Array: - This page displays information about the planets of the solar system. The code uses a multi-dimensional array. >> Planets: - This page displays information about the planets of the solar system. |
