Monday, January 22, 2007 - NFC Champion Chicago Bears!

The Bears are going to the Superbowl! What a game! I watched the whole thing with Moxie and Hank and Michael even watched some of it. Can't wait for the big game!

Bear down, Chicago Bears!
Make every play clear the way to victory!

Bear down, Chicago Bears!
Put up a fight with a might so fearlessly!

We'll never forget the way you thrilled the nation
With your T formation.

Bear down, Chicago Bears,
And let them know why you're wearing the crown

You're the pride and joy of Illinois.
Chicago Bears, bear down!

Go Bears!

On another note, Michael has still been talking up a storm. He's also strong enough to stand for short periods without any support from Mommy or Daddy. He holds on to the side of the crib and stands there smiling. And he's learning to turn the pages of his books. I can't wait to see what he does next week, or even tomorrow.

Thursday, January 18, 2007 - Michael / Michelangelo

We have a budding artist on our hands! Yesterday while I was in at the office Julie was holding Michael while she was writing a letter. He grabbed the pen from her and started writing with it! So she went and got paper and crayons and Michael drew his first drawing! Julie framed it and, of course, I had to include it on my web page. So maybe we have an artist on our hands and not a football player?

Also, lately Michael has been talking to himself. He's discovered his own voice. He'll just sit there going "ha, ha, heh, heh, heh" for minutes at a time. And yesterday he tried some new sounds. Now it's "ha, ha, oh, oh, ow, ow, heh, heh". He loves the sound of his own voice. So maybe a politician and not an artist?

He's also working on getting more mobile. He's rolling over more and really twisting around to see things. And he doesn't like laying in our arms much anymore. He'd rather be sitting upright or even standing (with a little support form mommy and daddy). He'll just stand on my lap while I make faces and talk or sing to him. We can't believe how strong he is. And he's growing all the time. He's up to about 14lbs and 25 inches now (unofficial - we used our own scale). So maybe we're back to a football player?

Whatever he ends up doing I'm sure he'll be great at it. I can't wait to find out what he's going to be interested in. He has so much potential. He's making Daddy proud already (as is obvious by all the new pictures in his Photo Album)!

Friday, January 5, 2007 - Michael rolled over today!

I know I just posted yesterday, but today Michael rolled over! I was on the phone with my mom when Julie started yelling from Michael's room. I went running just in time to catch Michael rolling over from his tummy to his back (and then looking a bit confused).

I can't believe how fast he's growing. Last week he was just starting to coo and gurgle responsively and absolutely hated tummy time. This week he's mimicking us, rolling over, and actively playing with his toys. For Christmas he got the Ann B. Dextrous toy from the Discovery Store (which is supposed to be for 4 months and up). On Christmas and the few days after he showed almost no interest in it at all. All of a sudden today he found it fascinating. He was spinning things, pushing it around, and making the lights flash and music play. And when we thought he was finished he got upset when we moved him away from it. He played with it for another ten minutes!

I can't wait to see what he does tomorrow!

Thursday, January 4, 2007 - Michael the lion!

Wow! Michael has been vocalizing more just in the last few days. Yesterday he was roaring at his toy lion (the first toy he's actually shown a preference for, too!). I would make the lion roar and he would roar back. And tonight he was working on mimicing me. I was doing Ooooh and Aaaaah and he was copying me. This is really cool...

I also posted a lot more photos and videos yesterday (including the Roaring Michael video above). We had Michael Christened on New Year's Eve and he had a great Christmas. There are new albums for both of those, plus a few new photos in the November, December, and January Miscellaneous albums.

Our little guy is growing up so fast. Each day ad week we realize that he's doing new things. And (as of December 26th) he was up to 13lbs and 24 inches! That's 1lb and 1oz heavier than he was three weeks prior and a whole inch longer.

We'll keep recording and posting new photos. Happy New Year to everyone!
