What a grueling few months. September and October were just insanely hectic. And now with November upon us we have numerous birthdays and holidays approaching fast. I'll try to keep things updated, but no promises.
Anyway, I was able to keep Michael's photo album up to date so there are a bunch of pictures for September and October. And guess what.. There's a new album for Michael now! That's right, we started Year Two! I can't believe it's been over a year.
September saw Michael walking like a pro, plus a bunch of firsts, including his first shoes and his first canoe ride. We also received our Christmas present from Grandma and Grandpa early so that we can use it while the weather is still nice. We got a bike trailer so Mike can go on bike rides with us! Mike also got a wagon from FreeCycle and did a lot of gardening with Mommy. There's tons of pictures and videos in his album.
We also spent a lot of time preparing for his first birthday, which was the first weekend of October. We invited family and friends over for a home made pasta dinner. Julie made fresh pasta, sauce, meatballs, and more. There was also sausage, salad, bread, and of course cake thanks to Busia and Grandma. Mike had a great time and seemed to know he was the center of attention. He opened presents, enjoyed his cake, and played with his cousins. Julie and I gave him an oak tree and we had everyone gather around while we planted it. Mike enjoyed himself so much that he didn't want to go to bed that night. He sat up telling Mommy all about his day (at least we're pretty sure that's what he was trying to talk about). He talked himself to sleep! What a great party.
And now the rest of October has just been a whirlwind, too. Since we've decided that we're not moving we've been working on some more gardening and landscaping. Besides Michael's tree we've also planted several bushes, some ground cover, and an apple tree. We've also relocated several bushes and plants and Julie is going to try winterizing our geraniums so that we can replant them in the spring. We've also planted about 75 tulip bulbs and several other spring bulbs. Michael helps out by dropping the bulbs into the holes once they're dug.
And for Halloween Michael was a frog. We took him to Sycamore's Pumpkin Fest last weekend. He had fun looking at pumpkins with Busia and Papa and carving jack-o-lanterns with Grandma and Grandpa. And on Halloween we took him trick-or-treating. He went to four houses and got a ton of candy (one of our neighbors works for Nestle). Everyone agreed he was the best frog ever!
So now it's November. We have several birthdays coming up, Thanksgiving, more birthdays, Christmas, New Years, more birthdays, and so on... Winter gets pretty busy for us. I'll try to keep posting here, but if not, don't worry. You can always see more in Michael's Year Two Album!
