Saturday, March 31, 2007 - Hank got a haircut!

We've been getting real tired of cleaning up long dog hair off of everything, so we decided to get Hank a trim. Today we brought him in to the Petco Grooming Salon and told them to give him a good buzz-cut. When he was finished it looked like they shrunk our dog! We didn't realize how much smaller than Moxie he was... There was a lot of hair. Moxie wasn't too sure about Hank when he came home. It took a while (and a lot of sniffing) before she was sure that the strange looking creature was actually Hank. And Hank acts like he misses his hair (but he still has his usual appetite, so we know it's still him!). I told him that he'll get over it. After all, I went through the same thing almost eight (wow, time flies) years ago.

Anyway, I've posted a small photo album with the before and after pictures here: Hank's Haircut Photos

Thursday, March 29, 2007 - New Photos and Videos

We had a short run of very nice weather the past few days (upper 70's in March!) and Michael just loved it. He got to play in the grass for the first time and thought it was great. He's also been eating very well. There's a video of him making a mess of himself with peas. And some good belly laughing, too. Oh, and last week Michael pulled himself into a standing position on his crib! He really wants to be walking around and gets really frustrated that he can't yet. It's only a matter of time though...

Also, Julie has had me password protect the photo albums. So if you need to request the password send me an email:

Saturday, March 17, 2007 - Quick update...

I know... It's been a while. Things have been pretty busy but not much exciting has happened. Michael is doing great. He's sitting like a pro and he seems to be very close to crawling. Actually, he seems to be about as close to crawling as he is to walking. He loves to stand (with very little support from Mommy and Daddy) and has even been trying to walk. He gets frustrated though because he tries to let go of our fingers and do it on his own, but he doesn't have the balance for that. But as long as he holds onto our fingers he can stand for quite a while.

Michael loves playing with the dogs, too. They still kind of ignore him, but every once in a while they venture close enough for Michael to make a grab. They've been very tolerant of him and it's only a matter of time before all three start playing together. Michael is fascinated when the dogs wrestle.

He's also been working on vocalizing more. And he's reaching for anything within his grasp. Yesterday Julie took him to Wal-Mart and he helped her carry groceries to the cart. And when it was time to check out he was trying to grab stuff out of someone else's cart. When Julie said he couldn't grab things that weren't his he huffed, threw his arms down and shouted "Mama!". I don't think it meant 'Julie' yet, but he is trying to get his ideas and emotions across.

Anyway, the only thing other than watching Michael grow up that's happened was on Tuesday. I was working on cleaning the basement and ran up the stairs from the basement to the garage with an arm load of garbage and caught my head on the tines of our rototiller that was hanging over the stairs. Ouch. It left a nice gash and since it was a head wound it bled quite a bit. It looked like we were filming an episode of CSI. Julie and my mom insisted that my dad take me to the emergency room (even though the bleeding pretty much stopped in five minutes) and the gash looked bad enough that it might have needed stitches, so I reluctantly agreed to go. After waiting in the ER waiting room for over 90 minutes I went to the reception desk and asked how long it was going to be. The waiting room was empty when I had arrived and now it was full. I learned that an ambulance had just arrived, two more were on their way, and two others had just been dispatched. That translated to "a long time". So, since the bleeding had stopped and I had a tetanus shot recently my dad and I left. We got home, cleaned up the cut, and it's been healing great.

So that was a little exciting, but mostly a big headache and a waste of time. Julie, Michael, the dogs, and I are doing great otherwise. I've added a few new pictures and videos to Michael's Album and I'll try to get some more up there. We haven't been taking many pictures lately, mostly videos, but I'll try to add a few more new things later this month.
